The JLS ECS team will manage or perform the improvements you've selected. Our team is committed to making this process simple and stress-free. The following is a list of improvement we may perform for your home.
Our process is as follows:
1 We check repair any hazardous conditions
2 We clean out any previous infestations and recommend removing insolation: birds, squirrels, rats, etc. 90% of properties have rat remnants. This in turn will improve air quality.
3 Move any ventilation ducts to floor or ceiling area in order to reduce heat loss.
4 Seal all intrusions to make sure no more critters can enter..
5 Change the HVAC if needed. This is done before we re-install the insulation.
6 Burry ducts in insulation and re-apply insulation in all other areas.
7 All other improvements will depend on the work recommended at the assessment.
Note that we test per BPI recommendations.
Insulation is often the #1 most cost-effective energy improvement measure for any property. We handle the installation of additional insulation, including blown cellulose, blown fiberglass, and fiberglass batts, attic door and fan cover insulation, plus pipe insulation. Also, wall insulation can have a major impact on comfort and sound levels in a property.
Heating, Ventilation & Cooling Systems
The EPA and DOE confirm that as much as half (or more in extreme climates) of the energy used in your home goes to heating and cooling. So making smart decisions about your home's heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems can have a big effect on your utility bills — and comfort.
If necessary, we will right-size your heating, ventilating and air conditioning system (HVAC), which will make a big difference in energy use. JLS ECS uses high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment designed and installed to maximize comfort. Upgrading to high efficiency cooling equipment, and making sure the system is sized and installed properly improves comfort and saves money.
Windows and Doors
On average, a property loses about 20 percent of their heat through windows and doors. Replacing windows and doors can reduce drafts and help solve this problem.
Properly installed, Low-E replacement windows, doors and skylights can improve your property's performance. By replacing your windows and doors with new ENERGY STAR or better models, you can save on your heating and cooling costs, be more comfortable, reduce noise, protect carpets from fading, and add curb appeal.
Air & Duct Tightness
According to the Department of Energy, proper air sealing and insulation can reduce heating and cooling costs by as much as 30 percent. Help prevent air while improving performance by tightening air leaks in the building envelope and in heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems with caulk, foam and other materials. Also, leaks can cause severe Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) problems.
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)
In recent years, scientific evidence has indicated that the air we breathe inside a buiilding can be more seriously polluted than outdoor air. This is worsened by the fact that people spend approximately 90 percent of their time indoors. Sources that emit gases or particles into the air are the primary cause of IAQ problems. Poor ventilation can increase levels of these pollutant levels by not directing them outside and by not bringing in enough "fresh" outdoor air to dilute indoor pollutants. High temperature and humidity can also play a role.
Indoor air pollutants can cause a variety of health problems including irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat, headaches, dizziness, fatigue, asthma, and even eventually respiratory disease, cancer, and heart disease. The young, the elderly, and the chronically ill, especially those suffering from respiratory or cardiovascular disease, are most susceptible to the effects of poor indoor air quality.
After reducing the pollutants entering by air-sealing and duct-sealing, we can add proper ventilation and advanced filtration to improve the quality of air inside.
